'Frank' goes overseas!
After exploratory visits to Los Angeles and San Francisco
by my Agent and Co-Producer John Cann and myself, we decided
for various reasons that neither of these places were right
for the first season of the show in North America.
We then set our sights on Toronto, Canada. It is a city with
a well established theatre-going population, as well as being
my birthplace!
We found the Bluma Appel Theatre in the St. Lawrence Centre
for the Arts to be an appropriate venue and have booked the
theatre for a season commencing July 13, 2002.
My wife Mandy Carnie will dance in the show again, with a
new dance partner, Aaron Cash.
My Australian Musical Director Michael Harrison and musicians
Ralph Pyl, Mark Taylor, David Pudney and Gordon Rytmeister
will all play in Toronto, with 11 local musicians also being
employed.
Lighting Designer Damien Cooper and Sound Director Phil Meltzer
will also come to set up the show.
We've put together a team of behind-the-scenes professionals
in Toronto to work with us, and needless to say we are all
very excited at the prospect of a successful season there.
Who knows where it may lead!
